At Sea – SuperBowl Day

Sunday 3rd February 2013

It’s raining but that’s ok as it will give me time to leave my busy social life aboard and try to catch up on the blog – yes I have been reading those comments folks!!

The Noon Ritual

The Noon Ritual

Despite the rain we still had our 12 noon beer ritual at The Patio Grill – we just weren’t joined by our usual crowd of fellow drinkers.

It was English Lunch at The Colonnade and it was so hard to choose between all the goodies that Chef Jes produced. In the end Vance & I both chose battered fish, British cut chips and mushy peas…but then I had to go back for a helping of cottage pie as well…greedy me!!

Today is the XLVII SuperBowl being held in New Orleans between the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers. Apparently the 49ers are the favourites.

Seabourn arranged for it to be shown on the big screen in the Grand Salon but when we arrived after lunch it was to find that by just after half time in the game there had been a power surge at the stadium causing a blackout of the pitch. The score at that time was 28 – 6 to The Ravens which was a huge shock to everyone watching.

Shortly after we arrived the game restarted and the 49ers made a huge comeback but it wasn’t enough and the final score was Ravens 34, 49ers 31…well played Ravens!!

At dinner at the main dining room tonight we went veggie and found the food to be really delicious and a nice change from fish or meat.

Another American comedian tonight for Showtime but not to our taste…again…so down to The Club for drinks where we were soon joined by the usual gang.

I had started on vodka orange but then changed to Champagne & Chambord cocktails – not a good move as we all stayed up until midnight so we could say “It’s Sunday …no it’s not…it’s Tuesday” – we had just crossed the international date line so a day goes missing.

Fell into bed but have to be up at 7am ready for our 8am kinesis class.
