Malacca, Malaysia – Saturday 14th February 2015

Happy Valentine’s Day Everybody!!

Malacca is located in the southern region of the Malay Peninsula next to the Straits of Malacca. Its historical city centre was listed as an UNESCO World Heritage site in July 2008.

We were in Malacca a few years ago, but went ashore today to walk around and see any changes. Most things were the same but it appeared that the town centre had really expanded.

We crossed to the north side of the river to revisit Chinatown which was decorated for the upcoming Chinese New Year…the year of the sheep/goat. The streets in this area are a shopper’s paradise crammed with little boutiques, antique shops and cafes…even a Hard Rock Cafe!!
We took a rickshaw ride (all brightly decorated for Valentine’s Day) back to the quayside ready to board our tender back to the ship.

We had dinner tonight at the grill where I was presented with a red rose…compliments of my gorgeous hubby.

Tonight the entertainment was stand up comedy magician Mel Mellers from the UK. He was hilarious but I’m so glad we weren’t sat in the first few rows (we always sit at the back so we can make a quick exit if necessary!!) as the guests there took the butt of his jokes and his sharp witted comments. I laughed so much.
