Today we hired a private speed boat (with Margaret & Reuben and Suzie & Lance) and sailed out to Paradise Island. This is a private Resort Island that allows day visitors to come and use its facilities … for a small fee. This gives you access to the beautiful white sands and clear turquoise waters of the Atoll, use of the pool and sun beds and a fantastic buffet lunch… unfortunately the drinks were not “included”.
Seabourn organised a similar tour but we decided to do our own thing so we had control over the timings and it was great to have our own boat and captain … I guess the boat would have easily held 12 guests so it was very roomy for just the 6 of us… and the trip came in cheaper than the Seabourn price… thank you Margaret for arranging everything for us, we are going to call you “Maggie Waggie Tours” from now on.
The trip out was scary but exhilarating… I think our speed boat captain was trying to make up some time as he was about 15 minutes late at the pier … needless to say there was lots of screaming…well from me anyway!! The island was beautiful, just what I expected of the Maldives, the sand was pure white and wasn’t hot as it was formed from crushed coral and the sea was clear and warm. After a while me and Vance left the others wallowing in the sea and went to the pool for a cooling swim and a relax on the sun beds. And then surprise, surprise it was time for our 12 noon beers.
After a fabulous buffet lunch in the cool of the open sided restaurant…great choice of salad, 3 or 4 different curries, fish and meat dishes, build your own sandwiches and numerous desserts…it was back to the pool for a final swim and relax before finding our boat and setting off back to Male. This time we went much slower and really enjoyed the scenery. Thank you again Maggie Waggie Tours.
Clocks go forward half an hour tonight so now 5.5 hours in front of UK time.
