Phuket, Thailand – Friday 30th January 2015

Phuket is Thailand’s largest island. Known as the “Pearl of Thailand” it is a popular holiday destination with it’s beautiful white beaches, water sports and bustling night markets. It lies just off Thailand’s southwest coast and is surrounded by the warm waters of the Andaman Sea.

We decided to stay aboard today and as most people went off on tours we had the pool deck to ourselves for a few hours… so this is how the rich live, I could get used to this…Vance, I hope you bought a lottery ticket…

Some enterprising locals had set up a market on the quay side so after lunch we did a little shopping for an hour or so. A golf shirt and swimmers for Vance and a T-shirt for me. The funny thing was I thought the swimmers were Union Jack design but later that afternoon Reuben said to Vance… “what’s with the Aussie swimmers?” … duh!…I had wondered why they had stars on them. They look great on him though…

Wearing The Flag!!

Wearing The Flag!!

Tonight ‘s entertainment was ‘Sojourn’s Got Talent…Have They?’ where we watched several of the crew perform on stage and then we voted for our favourite act. The Grand Salon was packed, the crew had been canvassing support all week and their efforts paid off, there wasn’t an empty seat in the house. Several of the acts were really good but one was outstanding…Stewart, one of the bar staff did a cocktail mixing routine called flaring (like Tom Cruise in the film Cocktail)…he was so good and deserved to win…I think he’ll be asked by a lot of the guests to mix them a special cocktail.

Clocks go forward 1 hour again tonight…now we’re 8 hours ahead of UK time.
